American Red Cross responds to tornados and flooding
Recover After a Disaster

Sioux City, IA., Monday, June 28, 2010 – The American Red Cross continues to help families across several counties in Iowa that have been affected by recent flooding and severe weather by providing shelter, food, water, and clean-up kits. Hundreds of families are facing weeks of clean-up and uncertainty in the hot, humid summer days ahead. After tornados destroyed homes and flood waters overtook towns this weekend, the American Red Cross was among the first on the scene to help.
In the wake of this recent disaster, the American Red Cross needs your help more than ever. Your financial donation provides a warm meal, safe shelter, access to cleaning supplies, and other critical services to families during this devastating time. All disaster relief is free to clients and made possible by voluntary donations by the American public.
As the Red Cross continues to monitor flood waters north and east of Sioux City, volunteers are still working in Cherokee, Paulina, and Sibley providing assistance.
All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money. The Red Cross depends on the generosity of the American people to fulfill our lifesaving mission. To help disaster victims by making a financial donation, please contact the Red Cross at (712) 252-4081 or go to www.siouxlandredcross.org. Help people affected by disasters like the recent flooding, by donating to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.  On those rare occasions when donations exceed Red Cross expenses for a specific disaster, contributions are used to prepare for and serve victims of other disasters. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for disasters and provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to victims of all disasters. Call 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767) or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish). Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund may be sent to your local American Red Cross chapter or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013. Internet users can make a secure online contribution by visiting www.redcross.org.
