Rosemary Jurney, a local volunteer for the Siouxland Chapter, has had a profound impact in regards to the local Armed Forces Communication Service. It is because of the efforts of Rosemary and other volunteers, that the Siouxland Area Chapter is able to continue to provide this critical service to those protecting our families and serving our country.

Armed Forces Emergency Services – AFES

The American Red Cross provides round-the clock emergency communications between family members and service members. The Red Cross verifies information in order for military to grant emergency leave when needed. In cases where there are financial needs, assistance is provided in the form of grants or loans for the service member or family members. AFES is available 7 days a week 24 hours a day. A caseworker is always on duty to respond to a military case. Additionally, the Red Cross provides counseling, if needed, for the service person or family. AFES is a congressionally-charted and mandated service of the Red Cross.

Call 1-800-340-4081 or 712-252-4081 if you have an emergency and need to contact a family member currently serving in any branch of the Armed Forces.
