Learn CPR/AED—help save a life.
June 1-7 is National CPR Week. Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of people over the age of 45, and is a risk factor in sudden cardiac arrest, which kills over 300,000 every year. However, many of these deaths are avoidable. That’s why the Siouxland Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering a special CPR/AED and First Aid training event that will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the chapter office at 4200 War Eagle Drive, Sioux City, IA. The six –hour training sessions will be offered for $40 to the public which includes lunch and a first aid book. Everyone is welcome, but must register in advance. At the training, you will have the opportunity to watch videos, hear lectures, and practice on CPR training manikins in small groups. Qualified CPR/AED instructors will teach you how to recognize an emergency, call for help, and perform rescue breathing and CPR/AED. First Aid skills taught will include soft tissue injuries, injuries to muscles, bones and joints, and sudden illnesses as seizures and strokes.
“Knowing how to perform CPR and how to use an AED are essential life skills that everyone needs”, according to Jean Grove, Health and Safety Services Director at the Siouxland chapter “Come to the CPR/AED and First Aid training on June 2nd and learn how to save a life.”
