SIOUX CITY, IA– The Siouxland Chapter of the American Red Cross is announcing the group of college and high school students attending this year’s Club Red Academy Leadership Program. Thanks to a Missouri River Historic District (MRHD) Grant, the Academy is free to participants and has been well attended.
This youth based program is meant to build awareness among young, civic-minded philanthropists to promote fundraising opportunities, and develop service delivery volunteers for disaster relief and preparedness education. Jenny Hamman, Youth & Aquatics Coordinator for the chapter states, “This group of young volunteers is an essential part of the Red Cross movement and we were excited to receive the MRHD grant to help defray costs.” This is the first year for the Academy and runs through May.
The list of students include: Carly Adams, Jamaica Adams, and Lauren Finney, Bishop Heelan High School; Evan Ascherl, Kevin Meinecke, and Michael Kirschbaum, Sheldon High School; Breanna Craig, Ashley Edwards, and Kendra Johnson, North High School; Jessica Eberly, Tam Ho, Nicole Kress, Abby Oliver, Reed Saunders, Allison Staley, Ben Swart, Megan VanderMolen, and William Vogt, Sergeant Bluff–Luton High School; Karina Gonzalez, Debbie Hernandez, and Gibran Moreno, South Sioux City High School; Amy Lubben, Kayla Hohbach, Nichole Mack, and Jessica Reuter, Le Mars Community High School; Erin Olson and Shirley Robinson, Dakota Valley High School; Katie Kertels, Hinton High School; John-Emmett Mahon, Peacemakers Academy; Caitlin Walker, Woodbury Central High School; Courtney Becker and Katie Boeckholt, Briar Cliff University; and Krys Sydow, Western Iowa Tech Community College.
